ACLS Initial Provider Course

Overview:
The ACLS Initial Provider Course is designed for healthcare professionals who manage or respond to cardiopulmonary emergencies and require American Heart Association (AHA) Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support certification. This in-person course emphasizes early recognition and management of respiratory and cardiac arrest, effective team dynamics, and evidence-based resuscitation practices in accordance with the 2025 AHA Guidelines.
Learning Outcomes:
Upon successful completion, students will be able to:

Recognize and manage cardiac arrest, acute arrhythmias, stroke, and acute coronary syndromes

Apply ACLS algorithms in high-stress emergency situations

Demonstrate effective airway management and pharmacologic interventions
-
Perform high-quality CPR as part of a coordinated resuscitation team
-
Apply systematic approaches to patient assessment and post–cardiac arrest care
-
Demonstrate effective team leadership and communication during resuscitation
Course Structure

This combined format ensures students gain the knowledge, physical skills, and real-world exposure needed for safe entry-level practice.
Course Materials
Applicants must:

Participants must use the 2025 AHA ACLS Provider Manual
-
Books may be purchased at shopcpr.heart.org or borrowed from your department
-
A completed ACLS online pretest must be brought to class
-
Renewal students must score 80% or higher on the exam
-
A current, unexpired ACLS card is required for renewal students
-
Expired cards require enrollment in the Initial Provider course
Attendance Policy

Participants unable to attend must notify the training center at (440) 354-1284 prior to class.

Please leave your name, department, and reason for absence.

No-shows will be reported to the participant’s manager.
-
Classes may be cancelled if fewer than three (3) students are enrolled.
Certification
-
Upon successful completion, participants will receive an American Heart Association ACLS Provider eCard.

There is no card fee for UH caregivers.
